Our peaches are ripe from mid-June through July and the varieties are all old favorite freestone peaches like Harvester, Loring, Bounty, Majestic and Redskin.   Our orchard is drip irrigated so the fruit is usually quite large.  Peaches are always in big demand when they are ripe, so it is a good idea to call before you come for a last minute update.  In the early part of the peach season we also will have blackberries available, and in the later part of the season the Gala apples will be ripe, so there should be other picking opportunities to make your visit worthwhile. 

     Recently it has been discovered that the shelf life of peaches can be greatly extended by "preconditioning" the fruit at 68 degrees for 48 hours before refrigeration.  That is very close to the temperature of an air conditioned kitchen, so you might try leaving your fruit in a cooler area of the kitchen for a couple of days before refrigerating it.
